Water is inspired by the contaminated water tragedy that plagued the community of Walkerton, Ontario. The play examines the direct impact on the community, the response, and the healing process in the aftermath. Playwright Brad Curtin is a resident of the Walkerton area and his firsthand knowledge of the tragedy informs the historical reality of the play and adds to its emotional authenticity. In lieu of performance rights, the playwright has asked that a donation be made to a water charity such as Ryan’s Well Foundation.
