Day 4: Week(end) in Review
Happy Monday!
It was a record-breaking first weekend in Fringe-land, with sell-out shows and packed houses commonplace. We’re on pace to break 2008’s record-setting ticket sales,we expect to be sold out of 5 and 10-show passes by the end of the day on Monday (if you’d like to buy one, I suggest calling the box office today).
The weekend’s hot shows were Heebs and Dweebs (which sold out it’s opening night and was stuffed to capacity for other performances), …Comes Around (2 sell outs!), Catgut Strung Violin (played to two very full houses on Saturday and Sunday), No Exit Upstage (big crowd for an 11:00 pm show), INCLEMENT WEATHER (very full all the the time), and Countries Shaped Like Stars (sold out on Sunday, and was packed on Friday and Saturday night, with standing ovations at all 3 performances).
The weekend also saw many national and international acts finally make their debuts, after closing the Montreal Fringe. Sunday saw the premier’s of The Accident, Grandpa Sol & Grandma Rosie, Jem Roll’s LEASTEST FLOPS, and Satanic Panic (a local show, which I’m told had a huge - and appreciative - crowd) among others.
We’re gearing up for a big week, and in case you missed it, here’s what else went on over the weekend: Chloe Ekker’s interview with Annie (The Squatter Heart) Lefebvre; Emily Pearlman blogged about her opening night tech troubles; our Day 3 Video Blog talks to patrons outside Venue #2; and the Fringe Photo Scavenger Hunt continues!
So what are you seeing tonight?
