INCLEMENT WEATHER

¡MI CASA!

Writer/Creator: Nicolas Di Gaetano

A man waits for a train that never comes. The weather gets bad. Drawing from classic clown performers like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, the bleakly comic ambiance of Samuel Beckett and the stories of 20th century immigrants, INCLEMENT WEATHER is a one-man show created by “the terrific Nicolas Di Gaetano” (Ottawa Citizen, 2008) formerly of Theatrophy – Undead Theatre.

  1. [...] Inclement Weather and Country Shaped Like Stars At the very least see one of them, but preferably see both. Emily Pearlman and Nick Di Gaetano are hands-down the most interesting and creative artists working in Ottawa today. I am in absolute awe when in their presence and still find it incredible they let me hang around. Both these shows fall under their new !MI CASA! banner. I expect lots of amazing things in the future from them both so I figure it best to get in on the ground floor now. Oh and in my book, Miss Pearlman gets 5 stars for every show. [...]

  2. …I was then treated to Nicolas Di Gaetano’s wonderful solo piece, Inclement Weather. A wonderfully comedic, slightly sad, extraordinarily physical piece, with a very few words thrown in. The time just flew by, and he kept my attention throughout. This show is also one of the few that I could honestly recommend for people with children, as the lack of language and the high physicality lends itself to a very universal form of comedy.

  3. Absolutely delightful and endearing. I loved the ebb and flow of this piece — it was so true to the experience of waiting for something, and along the way being alternately intrigued by the details of life, and disappointed by the bigger picture. Nicolas is clearly fantastically talented as an actor and physical performer…elements of “Inclement Weather” reminded me of Jonno Katz’s shows (maybe it was also Nicolas’s goofy grin and curly dark hair), and I could imagine the two actors as brother clowns from different countries… All in all, much recommended! Ta da! :)

  4. [...] WWSP and I squeezed into a packed Alt Cafe to catch Inclement Weather. Nick Di Gaetano has a lot of charm, his talent is undeniable, and the crowd was thoroughly pleased [...]

  5. Fresh(ish) out of Phillipe Gaulier’s program in France, Nick finally stages a showcase of his newly-honed and refined talent. You may see a little work reminiscent of Sascha Baron-Cohen in the piece but it is unique and entirely Nick. This show is easily accessible for children (I would suggest 10+).

This show had me smiling so much, without a word of lie, my jaw muscles were cramping when I came out.

  6. Nicolas is brillant in Inclement Weather. He is a very talented performer and so expressive. I also recommend it for people with children. After attending “sans enfants” I returned the next night with my children and they were highly entertained.

I also caught Countries Shaped Like Stars and just loved every minute of it.
