I was lucky enough to catch this show last year, during it’s sold out run at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. In a word, fantastic. A wonderfully written script, by Chris Craddock, which is brought to life by Anne Wyman. Wyman inhabits the various rolls with ease and gives a great performance from start to finish. A fine addition to one’s fringe related activities.
This is the perfect show for Ottawa and is not to be missed by politicos. It is set in the heady days of the birth of the Canadian Alliance when it seemed like anything was possible. Our erstwhile heroine warms up by chanting “Prime Minister Stockwell Day!” So go young hill staffers, and watch without fear of being fired, for there is no nudity!
This show was really hilarious, witty and endearing, and played to a packed house at 11 pm on a Sunday night, which is a testament to its success, popularity and positive word-of-mouth! Anne Wyman does a great job portraying all the female characters with subtle changes of vocal pitch, enunciation and facial expression; I especially liked her take on the mega-religious mom/minister , full of good posture and earnest breathiness. This is, as someone stated, a really fun addition to anyone’s Fringe schedule.
