The word’s already out that this is one of the best shows in this year’s fringe, tonight’s show was sold out and I expect that the ones on Saturday and Sunday will be as well, so get there early to buy your ticket!
We had fun watching it, although anyone looking for paranormal/supernatural plot twists will soon find out that his detective work is driven by sleight of hand tricks. They’re classics, and mostly well done. If you’ve never seen the razor blade trick in person, you’ll be very uneasy when he starts into it. Sitting on the end of a row, I did happen to see at least one of the substitutions happening, but it was still an entertaining show. HIs use of lighting works quite well, his noir patter is good, he has silly puns (as noted above) and his world-weary expression is spot-on.
Just saw the 11:00 show tonight. Pretty awesome, not sure how he did that! Or should I say all the audience members. It was fun to participate, and I as well might take in a second show to see it done again!
Very, very funny, and some very clever magic tricks. Good audience interaction and lots of fun.
Not a bad premise: comedy, film noir, audience participation and magic tricks. The audience was laughing. There was the occasionally groan at shamelessly bad puns.
However, it did go out with a bang (which suggests that more magic tricks and visual humour might turn this pup into a winner). I’d give it a 6 out of 10, but other audience members might raise the score.
Excellent show; witty, fast-paced, and charming. The magic was great, and I will probably go see it a second time in order to take note of all the hilariously bad puns.
