Tom loves Jackie and Jackie loves Tom. The only problem is Tom doesn’t love Jackie’s vision of a big Catholic wedding. Jackie ends up getting more than she bargained for, however, when, one night, Tom has a bizarre religious experience and starts having visions of his own.

Tickets are 2 for 1 on opening night.

Even if one of the posts here spells out the play in more detail than might compel you to see live (after reading the narrative for yourselves) – it is funny, well acted, and worth the watch! …even if some of the antics get a bit overboard…good entertainment value. Enjoy!

We saw Sunday night’s performance, and were greatly entertained. The opening scene, in which Tom proposes to Jackie, is truly hilarious. Within two minutes of Jackie’s acceptance, they’re in a knockout argument over whether or not a church wedding is in the cards, complicated by the fact that Jackie’s mum expects it, and Jackie wants to let her plan much of the wedding. At this point, I’m totally on Tom’s side, as the science-loving, rat-running, show-me-the-proof atheist (though Tom only claims to be an agnostic), who thinks that Catholic theology is barmy through and through. Things mutate later on, as Tom receives a religious revelation of his own that quite outdoes Jackie’s rather lukewarm Catholicism.

The primary actors are solid in their roles, extremely believable, and a joy to watch. To round out the scenes, there is also David Rowan, who plays all the ancillary roles, namely the ignored waiter in the first scene, the priest, the OTT wedding planner, and most importantly, the way-OTT Mark-the-Eradicator-of-Darkness.

I also thought that the two men do an awesome a cappella Led Zep number, ‘The Immigrant Song’. Trying not to give too much away here, but you might want to review the lyrics before or after the play, to see how well it fits in.

    Well worth seeing!
