Squatter Heart, The

ReduxDelux

Writer/Creator: Annie Lefebvre

The Squatter Heart is an allegorical and poetic theatre piece inspired in part by Japanese Butoh dance. It is the story about living the fragmentation of our triptych Self and Beauty manifesting itself in the darkest moments.
At one point or another everyone has inhabited the dark place. Why do we choose to come back? What calls us back to Light?
That is the lesson: we either dwell in the shit or grow out flowers of it.

  2. [...] The Squatter Heart By Annie Lefebvre / Directed by Andy Massingham Her preview performance at the Festival Tent last night sold this one for me. A beautiful poetic movement piece. Annie was simply stunning. I can’t wait to see more! [...]

  3. Stunning. Heart-wrenching. Incredibly beautiful. This show tore out my heart and squeezed it until it wasn’t much more than a dripping bloody lump, then kissed it softly and placed it ever so gently back into the gaping cavity that was my chest. I didn’t “get” it, but I don’t think I was meant to. Instead I connected, experienced, FELT.

Huge hugs to Annie, Andy and Jon for creating such poetry and my grateful thanks for sharing it with us.

  4. Only at the end of the show did I realize my feet hadn’t yet touched the floor. I went through the experience feeling physical and emotional tension and cocking my head in unnatural ways so as not to miss a move. It was beautiful and exciting. Thank you.

  6. I must admit, I was ‘blown over’. I left thinking “what was that?”. All I know is that I was intrigued before it even started. Then as hands slowly emerged through the stage curtains, I was mesmerized, but when Annie began to move her body in that unspeakable/undescribe-able way, WELL, that did it for me.

I felt so much energy just by watching, her face, some of the words, her movements, I only wish I could see it again, and maybe next time I’ll listen to the words.

    peace
