June 23rd, 2008A good production, especially for the performances, but the script feels unfinished it’s not BAD, by any means, but it is a little thin. It could use another few drafts and a bit of fleshing out. You’ll love the characters, though, so it’s worth checking out. Not a “must-see” show, but a nice way to spend your time.

June 23rd, 2008The only thing I can think to say is WHY??? Why on earth would you repeat this disaster from last year? Although there’s been a slight cast change, and it’s perhaps ever so slightly improved, it still lacks direction, and the actors aren’t capable enough to pull it off without a director with any directing skills.

June 27th, 2008Adrienne McGrath as Stella and Michael Showler as Billy did great work in the Wednesday, June 25, production of Trashcan Duet.
Michael Showler had the easier part, playing a hapless but likable loser, but that does not mean he chose to take it easy. There is a lot going on in the script (perhaps too much) and he stayed on top of it all. Billy is none too bright as a character; he’s lucky he had Michael to shepherd him around.
Adrienne McGrath, as Stella, had to do a lot more work, establishing her character as an angry and disappointed woman, and then metamorphosing into somebody willing to take a chance with Billy and with herself, in a very small turning radius. I wish there had been more time for her character to ease through that transition.
I want to see them both perform again. In anything.

June 27th, 2008I liked this one. I like quirky language, and intersting relationships
between characters, and this has both. I liked how the poems reveal
the character. I liked the concept that some relationships just need
you to have a thick skin to make them work.
